[Gospel]

Soldier Of The Cross

There's no way for me to thank the Lord for the blessings
That He uses to fill all the holes in my heart;
Nor the joy that He promises to follow the blessings,
Nor the comfort He brought me from the start.
If He'd left me to do all the fillin' on my own,
I would surely have wasted all away;
For life without Him is the meaning of sin,
And the price I would surel have to pay.

Sometimes when I'm weary, and it seems that I'm losin'
All the ground that it seems I have covered so far;
And the road has deadended at the door of temptation
To give in to the Tempter and depart;
I realise the road that I travel on
Belongs to another one more powerful than me.
Any ground I have gained has been won by the Son,
For I'm a soldier of the cross of calvary.

I've been tempered in the furnace of my own selfish reason,
Only saved from destruction by the hand of the Lord;
And, though I am unworthy, He has given me the duty
To reach out with the heart He has restored;
But, without the gift of sharing, all the blessings that He's given me
Will perish in the wilderness of greed.
Any peace I can claim has been granted in His name,
For I'm a soldier of the cross of calvary.
